Dr. Hahnemann was of the view that there were two
kinds of diseases: one acute diseases and other chronic
diseases. Acute diseases depends on the vigorous nature of the
vital dynamics of the sick individual. Chronic diseases depends on
the morbid nature of the patients on account of the impotence of the
vital dynamics and becomes vitiated by exogenous or endogenous
miasms.
During proving of homoeopathic remedies Dr.
Hahnemann noticed that some drugs showed symptoms belonging to
causations, characteristic and constitutional nature of the sick
individual. For example, Colocynthis and Nux Vomica have
symptoms pertaining to the effects of anger; Arnica, Bellis, Ruta
& Symphytum have symptoms pertaining to trauma; Natrum
Sulph & Aranea D have symptoms pertaining to the effects of
living in damp environment; Aconite & Opium have symptoms
pertaining to the effects of fear etc.
According to Dr. Hahnemann there are two type of
causations. 1) Acute Causes which may be due to malefic
emotional influences, allergic influences, epidemic, endemic,
traumatic, toxic and other acute type of influences. 2) Chronic
Causations which are due to drug miasms, uncured acute miasms,
suppressions and chronic miasms of Psora, Sychosis and
Syphilis.
Causation always play a very important role in the
selection of remedy. Here are few examples to show the prescription
based on causations:
Dr. Kent: He
cured numerous cases of complaints arising out of trauma to head
like epilepsy, with Natrum Sulph.
Following
examples of causative conditions are from Dr. Sahni's experience
which always give good results:
Neuralgias after surgical operations especially
abdomen, Staphisgria.
Headache resulting from washing clothes, Phosphorous.
Sore and raw spots on feet when feet are
rubbed, Allium Cepa.
Headache after haircut, Belladonna.
Recurring throat infections after surgical
removal of tonsils, Streptococcin.
